Advertising and mandatory warning messages
There are very specific rules surrounding gambling advertising on:
- radio (which includes a black out time)
- television (which includes a black out time)
- print media
- outdoor signage
- ground signage
- uniform logos
- texts (SMS).
All gambling advertising must include a mandatory warning message.
The message is determined by the date of the advertising.

In-venue signage
Gambling providers must display in-venue responsible gambling signs, that have been developed and approved by the Government of South Australia.
Inducements and incentives
Gambling providers must not offer inducements to encourage people to gamble or open gambling accounts.
This applies to gambling venues and online gambling operators.
A gambling provider can offer:
- an acceptable loyalty program
- free gambling products
- free non-alcoholic drinks and refreshments.
Product offers
Gambling providers must not encourage people to gamble by offering products such as discounted meals, free bets or vouchers. Providers can offer free coffee and tea, non-alcoholic beverages and refreshments of nominal value.

Special prices
Gambling providers must not encourage people to gamble by offering a deal on the price, such as a free bet on the condition that it is matched with the person's own money, or offering the tenth bet free.
If a legal bet type has core parts that include an offer, it is not considered an inducement. Offering to pay the best totalisator price is a specific form of approved fixed odds betting.
Trade promotions for gaming operators
A trade promotion lottery must not be used to encourage people to gamble. The main purpose must be to reward existing customers, not to attract new ones.
